Nepalese telco Ncell says it has become the first mobile operator in the country to expand its Voice over Long-Term Evolution (VoLTE) international roaming service to include outbound travellers.
Ncell already provides inbound VoLTE roaming for international roamers from Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio, China Mobile, Ooredoo Kuwait, Mobily, AT&T and Viettel. As of Monday, Ncell began offering outbound VoLTE roaming for its customers, starting with India via a partnership with Airtel.
Ncell said the outbound VoLTE roaming service wil enable its customers to experience HD voice calls and high-speed data services when traveling abroad.
Ncell said it plans to expand the outbound VoLTE roaming service to India’s two other private operators, Jio and Vodafone Idea, and is actively testing the service with them. The telco said it is also testing the service with AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Softbank, NTT Docomo, China Mobile, China Unicom, Bell Canada and Telus.
Ncell added that it is working to expand its inbound VoLTE roaming partnerships as well.
