Two major Brazilian operators have selected the vendors that will provide equipment for their LTE networks.
Telefonica subsidiary Vivo has named Ericsson as its chosen vendor, and will launch its 4G network across the states of Bahia, Minas Gerais, São Paulo and Sergipe as well as regions in the north and Midwest of Brazil.
The Swedish vendor will plan and roll out the network as well as providing support. The firms have a longstanding relationship, with Ericsson having previously worked on Vivo’s GSM, WCDMA and HSPA networks.
Meanwhile, Oi has chosen three vendors – Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson and Nokia Siemens Networks.
