Telkom Indonesia to develop digital enterprise solutions with China Unicom

Telkom Indonesia signed an MoU with China Unicom Indonesia Operations on Monday to explore ways to collaborate on digital infrastructure, connectivity, and technology solutions for the Indonesian market.

Under the MoU, Telkom and three of its operating companies – mobile operator Telkomsel, wholesale fibre player InfraNexia and tower provider Mitratel – will team with China Unicom to develop products, services, and business opportunities for enterprise customers in Indonesia, as well as explore access to the global market.

The MoU specifies a focus on five main areas: data centres, AI, 5G solutions and use cases, connectivity and IoT.

The deal aims to leverage TelkomGroup’s infrastructure, customer ecosystem, and domestic market insights and China Unicom's global ecosystem network, which comprises almost 5 million 5G base stations and over 670,000 km of subsea cables, reaching more than 1.2 billion users.

Telkom network director Nanang Hendarno said the move is a strategic step for Telkom Group to strengthen the foundation of its national network as demand for digital services increases.

“Through this initiative, we want to increase the capacity and reliability of our digital telecommunication ecosystem, so that we can present an increasingly optimal experience and service to support enterprise customers in Indonesia,” he said in a statement.
